The Scottish Housing Regulator (like its predecessor the Regulation & Inspection division of Communities Scotland) uses the services of the Scottish Government’s Legal Directorate for legal advice, and therefore generally incurs no costs. However since 2003, we have used external legal experts twice.

In 2003, we commissioned an advocate to help inform the development of our policy and guidance on access and allocations. This work cost £9,047.50. And in 2004, we consulted a different advocate about a draft petition for a judicial review. This work cost £1,586.25.

The names of the advocates who carried out this work are classed as personal information under Section 38 (1) of the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act, so we are unable to disclose this information.
