STIRLING COUNCIL’S HOUSING SERVICES INSPECTION REPORT
The Scottish Housing Regulator today published its inspection report on Stirling Council’s housing services. It awarded the Council a ‘fair’ rating for both its Housing Management and its Asset Management & Repairs service.
The purpose of inspection is to provide an independent external assessment of the effectiveness of housing service delivery and make recommendations to help improvement.
Stirling Council is Scotland’s ninth largest by geographical area covering approximately 2,187 square kilometres and has a population of some 88,350 people.
Lesley Kerr, Acting Head of Inspection at The Scottish Housing Regulator, said:
“We found that Stirling Council has a good appreciation of the strengths and weaknesses in its Housing services. It already has in place a number of well advanced plans to address many of the areas of poorer performance identified in the inspection.”
Stirling Council Portfolio Holder with responsibility for Housing Strategy Councillor Alasdair MacPherson said:
"The team from the Scottish Housing Regulator have done an excellent job, the report has demonstrated that we have made real progress in the key areas of the service that we have worked hardest to improve over the last three years. But it has also shown that we have more to do to ensure that we are delivering the quality of service that our tenants deserve. We will be working with the Regulator and our tenants to convert this report into a plan to improve our service and ensure that tenants are fully involved in the key decisions that affect them."
