Scottish Housing Regulator publishes report on priorities of homeless people

The Scottish Housing Regulator today published a report examining the priorities of people who are homeless in Scotland.

The report gives a clear picture of what homeless people want and what they value in services from local authorities. Quick and easy access to services and good customer care are important. Good, proactive communication, ongoing support and securing accommodation also featured highly as service users’ priorities.

Michael Cameron, Chief Executive of the Scottish Housing Regulator, said:

“I welcome the findings from this study. It provides a user’s view of what is important in homeless services. The Regulator will draw on the findings as it develops its proposals for monitoring the Scottish Social Housing Charter later this year. I hope that social landlords consider the findings of this report as they develop their services.

Anna Evans Consultancy produced the report, “Priorities of Homeless Service Users”, after carrying out a series of interviews with homeless service users in four local authority areas across Scotland to build a picture of their experiences and their priorities.
