APPOINTMENT OF NON-EXECUTIVE BOARD MEMBERS TO THE SCOTTISH HOUSING REGULATOR

The Scottish Housing Regulator has appointed three Non-Executive Board members: Miss Lucia Webster a senior manager with the Association of British Credit Unions; Mrs Mairi Keddie, an independent management consultant; and Mr Alex Condie MBE, a tenant and board member of a housing association.

Together they bring an excellent understanding of regulatory frameworks and experience of working with a range of public bodies, local authorities and housing associations.

They also bring business, investment and lending expertise; as well as a strong consumer and tenant interest.

Karen Watt Chief Executive of the Scottish Housing Regulator, said:

“I am delighted to welcome our three new Non-Executive Board members. The range and depth of their expertise will help to ensure the agency is effectively governed and that we remain focussed on our primary purpose of protecting the interests of tenants and other consumer groups”.

1. The Scottish Housing Regulator came into operation on 1 April 2008. It is the successor to Communities Scotland’s Regulation & Inspection Division. As a government agency The Scottish Housing Regulator will have complete operational independence, but will remain accountable to Scottish Ministers, and through them to the Scottish Parliament for the standard of its work. The agency sits within the Justice and Communities Directorate of the Scottish Government and will work within the government’s overall purpose and contribute to its strategic objectives.
