LGBT Housing reports launched

Stonewall Scotland and the Scottish Housing Regulator have jointly launched two guides for social housing providers and homelessness services. The reports outline some of the specific housing problems that lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) people may face. They also offer practical advice for housing professionals.

Understanding the housing needs and homeless experiences of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) people in Scotland offers a broad background for those new to this subject area.

Recognising and addressing homophobic and transphobic harassment focuses specifically on the nature of harassment and strategies for addressing it.

Michael Cameron, Head of Inspection at The Scottish Housing Regulator, said:

“Research shows that sexual orientation is one of the least well developed equality strands for many housing providers. Yet there are many ways in which those from LGBT communities continue to face particular housing problems. We hope that these guides will help housing practitioners in addressing these challenges.”
