DALMUIR PARK HOUSING ASSOCIATION INSPECTION REPORT

The Scottish Housing Regulator today published its inspection report on Dalmuir Park Housing Association. The purpose of the inspection was to provide an independent external assessment on the effectiveness of its housing services and make recommendations to help improvement.

The Regulator has awarded Dalmuir Park Housing Association a ‘fair’ rating for its overall performance.

Lesley Kerr, Acting Head of Inspection at the Scottish Housing Regulator, said:

“Our inspectors found that Dalmuir Park Housing Association has some strengths but also some areas where improvement is needed. It has a clear focus on serving its community and responding to its needs. It has a good approach to tenancy and neighbourhood management, provides a good response repairs service and its performance in gas safety is excellent.

“It also has some weaknesses in its business plan, its performance management and its approach to setting service standards. It needs to continue to improve its approach to delivering efficiencies and re-letting empty houses. The Association responded to the inspection by making some immediate improvements to its services.“

3. Dalmuir Park Housing Association became a registered social landlord (RSL) in 1978 and was established in response to the sub tolerable living condition in the tenements in Dalmuir. It is a charitable RSL and operates in the West Dunbartonshire Council area. It has approximately 654 tenanted properties manages 32 shared ownership properties and also factors 141 properties.

4. The Scottish Housing Regulator came into operation on 1 April 2008. It is the successor to Communities Scotland’s Regulation & Inspection Division. It operates the powers and duties of the regulation of social housing which are set out in the Housing (Scotland) Act 2001. The Scottish Housing Regulator is an arm’s length executive agency of the Scottish Government. It has operational independence, while being accountable to Scottish Ministers and through them to the Scottish Parliament for the standard of its work.
