Appointment of Scottish Housing Regulator Chief Executive

Michael Cameron has been appointed Chief Executive of the Scottish Housing Regulator.  This follows an external recruitment competition, and an interview process chaired by Francesca Osowska (Scottish Government Director for Housing, Regeneration, Culture and the Commonwealth Games).  Michael, who has been acting Chief Executive of the agency since October 2009, takes up his post on a substantive basis with immediate effect.

Michael also becomes Chief Executive designate of the new independent Regulator that the Housing (Scotland) Act 2010 established.  The new body will assume its regulatory responsibilities on 1 April next year.  In this interim year, Michael will direct the executive agency, manage the transition to the new body and support the Board of the new body as it prepares to assume its full responsibilities.
