The Lothian, Borders and Fife area office covers the six local authority areas of City of Edinburgh, West Lothian, Midlothian, East Lothian, Fife and Scottish Borders. The team is responsible for a range of housing and regeneration activities in the south-east of Scotland.
In 2007/08, the team will manage an investment budget of £85.2 million for housing and regeneration projects – including helping to create 1,225 new homes for rent or low-cost home ownership. Included in our Housing Investment Programme this year are our shared equity schemes introduced as part of the Government’s Low-cost Initiative for First-Time Buyers (LIFT). Details of New Supply Shared Equity projects being developed in the area will be available as they come on stream. In addition we will support the Open Market Shared Equity Pilot under LIFT.

This presents a range of challenges for the office, as it works to tackle closing the opportunity gap between disadvantaged communities and neighbouring areas experiencing some of the fastest household and economic growth in Scotland.
