Social Enterprise Strategy

Consultation on a Social Enterprise Strategy for Scotland

We are currently conducting a public consultation on the Scottish Executive’s social enterprise strategy for Scotland.

The strategy’s overall aim is to set out what is meant by social enterprise and explore the work undertaken by the sector. It highlights why such enterprises require a differentiated strategy. The strategy examines support for social enterprise and how the growth and development of social enterprises can be encouraged.

We believe our proposals for a social economy strategy will offer a more structured approach which will link to Scottish Executive commitments to deliver better public services and grow Scotland’s economy. It will also link to the Executive’s vision for the voluntary sector and the wider social economy.

In developing this paper we have drawn on input from discussions with a cross-departmental working group and the Social Economy Advisory Board, chaired by the Minister for Communities, Malcolm Chisholm.

This web page allows you to electronically comment on the proposals and I would welcome your comments by Friday 8 September 2006, please use the links below to access the relevant information;
