Training

Annex A: Training

Communities Scotland (working with the CIH) has provided training and learning opportunities to support local authorities in the development and implementation of their LHS. The first round of training, funded by the Scottish Executive, took place in late 2002 and focused on Project Management, Commissioning Research, Assessing Housing Needs and Local House Condition Surveys.

A second round of training took place in early 2003 and looked at Market Analysis, Geographical Information Systems (GIS) for LHS, Option Appraisal & Objective Setting, Involving Others/Consulting Effectively and Monitoring & Evaluation. A third round of training took place in early 2004 and saw training on SPSS, and re-runs of the aforementioned Market Analysis and Monitoring & Evaluation training.

The fourth round of training featured a series of two day courses held in Communities Scotland local offices in Edinburgh, Glasgow and Inverness during January and February 2005. The training, Maintaining Momentum – Continuous Improvement of LHS, included both core skills and master skills events. A further three Masterclass workshops were held in March 2006. Good Practice suggestions from the 2005 and 2006 events are available on request.
