The wider role fund was launched in 2000 to encourage housing associations to develop projects to help make life better for people in their communities.
With a budget of £8 million this year, the fund can be used for a very wide range of projects dealing with issues such as improving health, helping people get training or jobs, improving community safety, helping people with their finances and increasing people’s skills and confidence.
Housing associations often work in partnership with other organisations to develop wider role projects.
Grants are given out by Communities Scotland’s network of offices around the country and the teams there can also help housing associations develop their ideas.
