Standards for Private Landlords

Private Landlords
National core standards and good practice guidance

The National Core Standards provides the core standards and good practice guidance for letting property in the private sector. The standards have been compiled in consultation with private landlords and tenants across Scotland, with local authorities, consumer representative organisations, equalities groups and professional interest groups.

The Guide to Implementing Voluntary Accreditation Schemes contains guidance on how to build these standards into voluntary local schemes that give recognition to landlords who adopt good practice.

The Model Short Assured Tenancy Agreement can be adapted for use free of charge by landlords and tenants. It may be freely reproduced in any other way, and adapted for use in individual cases, providing that it is not sold and the source is acknowledged.
