Improving the quality of money and housing advice

The new Scottish National Standards published by HomePoint on 20 November 2006 will help money advice providers give better advice to people seeking information on finance or housing. These new composite Standards include sections on money advice as well as housing advice.

The new Standards were piloted with the assistance of law centres, local authority Trading Standards and Welfare Rights teams, as well as Citizens Advice Bureaux and voluntary sector agencies across Scotland.

Private Landlords Standards launch

Launch of HomePoint’s new Scottish National Core Standards and Good Practice Guidance for Private Landlords in Edinburgh on 5 December 2006 was the result of work with four pilot projects in Scotland. The Standards for Private Landlords provide a framework for setting and monitoring good management practice by private landlords. They can be used to help landlords benchmark their practice and plan for improvement, or to help local authorities and other organisations develop local accreditation schemes.
