2. Scottish Homes Rented Housing

2.1 General needs rented housing

Scottish Homes and Councils generally have what is called a nominations agreement, whereby Scottish Homes allocate their houses as and when re-letting opportunities occur to whoever the Council nominates.

All applicants accepted onto the Council's own waiting list are therefore automatically considered for any suitable vacancy of a Scottish Homes house available for re-let. No separate application is required.

Moreover, the Council will use exactly the same allocations policy and points system to decide who it should nominate for a Scottish Homes house as it does for its own houses (see Section 1.2).

Rent levels

Rent levels vary and are adjusted to reflect the property's age and condition. The average rent in Scotland at 1 April 2001 was £44.29.
