1. Council Housing

1.3 Housing for those with special needs

Councils provide housing particularly suited to people with special needs related to their age, physical or mental health (see also Section 4, Special Needs). There are also residential and supported accommodation provided by Councils for people with special residential and respite care needs including:

• older and infirm people

• adults with mental health problems

• adults with physical and/or learning disabilities

• children and young adults with a learning disability

• young people

• refugees and asylum seekers

• ex-offenders

• people with alcohol or drug related problems

• combinations of these and more specialist requirements.

Check with the Council for details of accommodation available.
